Healthcare Group has been recognised as an ‘Active Practice’ under the Active Practice Charter, as well as a ‘Parkrun Practice,’ endorsed by the Royal College of General Practice.
These accolades reflect Healthcare Group’s ongoing commitment to supporting the mental and physical well-being of patients and staff in Guernsey.
To qualify as an Active Practice, Healthcare Group met the criteria set by the Active Practice Charter, which aims to help general practices inspire active lifestyles among patients and staff.
The practice has pledged to promote physical activity and embed it into everyday patient care, recognising the wide-ranging benefits of regular movement for physical and mental health.
As a Parkrun Practice, Healthcare Group has been recognised for encouraging staff and patients to participate in the local weekly Parkrun event at Pembroke Bay in Vale, held every Saturday at 9 am.
The free 5km run or walk is open to people of all abilities, providing a fun, community-centered way to get active.
Healthcare Group’s Dr Rebecca Mitchinson, said: “Becoming both an Active Practice and a Parkrun Practice highlights our deep commitment to improving health in our community. We’re grateful to have been supported in this by the Health Improvement Commission and its Be Active Campaign.
“Physical activity is a vital tool in supporting people with many types of illness and promoting overall well-being. Parkruns provide an accessible, social way for our patients and staff to stay active and we are committed to getting involved and taking part where possible. Healthcare Group has also been the proud sponsor of this year’s Guernsey Athletics Masters Mile Event, a series of four races of one mile each for over 50s, encouraging activity and friendly competition at all ages. Our staff helped set up and marshal the events as well as participating.
“We’re excited to see the positive impact this initiative will have on everyone involved.”
