The 2024 Headway Pétanque Tournament, sponsored by Integritas Wealth Partners and supported by Snap and the Coop, has taken place.

The event, held at the Weighbridge, raised over £4,600 for Headway and unfolded on Thursday with the weather holding out for the afternoon, with the sun even putting in an appearance at one stage.

High quality Pétanque prowess was demonstrated by 38 enthusiastic teams, with representation from UBS, Bedell Cristin, Dickinson Gleeson, Oppenheimer Generations, Marshall Nicole, Viberts, LGT and Coop just some of the teams that attended on the day.

Pétanque expertise and umpiring was provided by the team at Pétanque Jersey.

Most valuable player award

The tournament culminated in a close final showdown between Snap Design & Digital and LGT, captivating spectators with a nail-biting, end-to-end battle, in the end LGT emerged victorious, claiming the coveted trophy after a tense and enthralling finale. The trophy, bearing LGT’s name, will take pride of place in the St Helier firms reception.

The event also saw the Most Valuable Player trophy sponsored by Snap, this was presented to the best player on the day selected by David Ibitson Chairman of the Jersey Pétanque Association and won by Rosa Michealjump representing Zedra Group, last year’s tournament champions.

Headway’s Patron Dr Karen Kyd and the Lieutenant Governor of Jersey were also present during the afternoon.

Sean McCrum, Senior Wealth Partner at Integritas Wealth Partners, who sponsored the event explained: “We are delighted to have sponsored the Headway Pétanque tournament again this year, this is our third year of involvement, and every year is bigger and better than the last, community is very important to our firm and helping raise money for such a deserving charity whilst enjoying a few games of Pétanque in the sunshine is a perfect way to spend an afternoon.

“Thank you to all of the firms that supported the event and helped make the day such a success. Congratulations to the LGT team Guy Thompson, Scott Spencer and Declan Falla for their outstanding performance in the final.”
