Hand Picked Hotels have made a very wise move to help train and retain their team.
They are the first hotel group in Jersey to invest in the software system which will enable staff to access training that meets their individual needs.
Hand Picked Hotels have adopted the accredited FLOW training package and re-named it Online Work Learning, or OWL.
Staff at both the AA Five Star Grand Jersey Hotel & Spa and the AA Four Red Star L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa will be able to access it and will be supported while studying by Hand Picked’s Channel Island Training Manager, Candice Wilson.
Candice brings a wealth of operational experience, having worked her way up within the Hand Picked Hotels group to her current position. She started her career as Assistant Food and Beverage Manager before being promoted to Food and Beverage Manager. After a short absence, Candice returned to L’Horizon to manage the Terrace before subsequently transferring into the Sales and Events team for a 12 month period.
In her role as Channel Island Training Manager, she now oversees and delivers training across the group and is responsible for the development of the team in both Jersey and Guernsey.
Candice, a past winner of Hand Picked Hotels’ Employee of the Year award, is an excellent ambassador of the Group’s values and behaviours and is really excited about the new online training tool and what it can offer.

“I’m passionate about helping my colleagues develop in their careers, just as I have, and OWL provides a fantastic opportunity for all of them to do that.”
