Butterfield has announced the recipients of its annual scholarships, including one talented student from Guernsey, Mae Ingrouille, who will receive US$25,000 for the upcoming academic year. These scholarships can be maintained for up to four academic years.
Mae Ingrouille (pictured) received the Butterfield Undergraduate Scholarship for Employees’ Children (Europe), one of three regional scholarships available to Butterfield employees who are parents or guardians of a student pursuing post-secondary education. Her scholarship funds will go towards her studies in Medicine at the University of Manchester.
A former student of The Ladies College, Guernsey, Mae is in her second year of her training to become a doctor. She has shadowed an Emergency Room consultant and previously volunteered at a local care home, gaining a first-hand understanding of the compassion needed in care – an experience that continues to motivate her.
Richard Saunders, Butterfield’s Managing Director, Channel Islands & UK, said: “Butterfield would like to offer huge congratulations to Mae who has set herself apart as an exceptional student and a valuable member of our local community. As Mae was previously a participant in our Summer Internship Programme, we are particularly proud to be supporting her and look forward to following her successes.
“Education is an important factor for economic growth, which is why Butterfield has invested almost US$2.5 million in scholarships since 2018. We hope to empower the next generation to pursue their academic ambitions and pave the way for their bright careers. In addition to the annual scholarship programme, we are pleased to also provide a path of other opportunities for young people, from the summer internships I mentioned to our graduate talent programme for those looking to pursue a career in finance.”
The scholarship programme offers financial assistance to a number of promising students each year based on academic excellence, community involvement and sporting attainments, financial need and a candidate’s demonstrated ability to lead.
