Boatworks, Guernsey’s marine services and chandlery business, is supporting the Guernsey Sports Commission’s Outdoor & Adventure initiative by donating an all-terrain vehicle (ATV).
The Outdoor & Adventure initiative is open to all age groups, backgrounds, and social standings. The aim is to get more people into shore and sea-based adventure sports including kayaking, paddle boarding and wild swimming.
The ATV will enable the Commission to transport equipment around the island which will make the sessions more efficient and ultimately increase the number of people able to benefit from the new initiative.
Dale Acton, Executive Director at Boatworks, said: “We’ve been working with the Sports Commission to find the best way to help them provide islanders with better access to outdoor activities. The Outdoor & Adventure initiative is brilliant and we’re very pleased to be able to donate the ATV to them. We encourage everyone to give sea-based sports a try and hope that many continue to benefit from the Sports Commission’s activities.”
Alan Jenner (pictured), Outdoor & Adventure Sports Development Officer, said: “Outdoor & Adventure Sports is a real growth area for the Guernsey Sports Commission. The island’s fantastic coastline provides a great resource for a wealth of sports and activities and anything that makes it easier for the whole community to experience what is on offer, and in a safe way, is a huge bonus. The ATV will support all aspects of the Outdoor & Adventure Sports initiative and we are extremely grateful to Boatworks for their sponsorship.”
The Guernsey Sports Commission is a charity that aims to promote physical activity on the island. The charity runs various programmes throughout the year that provides people of all ages, backgrounds, and social standings the chance to take part in sport.
