The Social Investment Fund’s COVID-19 Community Charity Appeal, supported by the Association of Guernsey Charities and the States of Guernsey, has raised £59,000 (as of end of Monday 20 April) since it was launched on Wednesday last week.
Funds raised through this appeal will support charities who have a key role in the Bailiwick’s wider pandemic response or those who provide vital services but have found their normal fundraising affected by the economic impact of coronavirus.
Chair of the Social Investment Fund, Jurat Stephen Jones OBE said:
“I’m truly moved by the support we’ve seen from islanders in just a few days. This money will make an enormous difference keeping charities going through this incredibly difficult time. We must remember that without our charitable sector, there are essential services we simply wouldn’t have in the Bailiwick. While the response so far has been terrific, we would still welcome more so if you can, please keep the donations coming in.”
