Guernsey Ports has appointed current Chief Operating Officer Ross Coppolo as its new Managing Director.
Mr Coppolo (pictured) first joined Guernsey Ports in 2010 as a Safety Manager, before becoming Head of Safety and Compliance in May 2018 and being promoted to Chief Operating Officer in March 2020. Prior to his appointment as Chief Operating Officer, Mr Coppolo also acted as an advisor to a number of other regional airports.
Mr Coppolo has a total of 21 years’ experience in the Ports sector. He is a Chartered Director, Fellow of the Royal Aeronautical Society, Fellow of the Institute of Directors and holds a Higher National Diploma in Marine Leisure Management.
His appointment to the role of Managing Director follows a highly-competitive and extensive recruitment process.
Mr Coppolo will be working closely with the outgoing Managing Director Colin Le Ray in the coming months to ensure a successful transition.
Dr Simon Thornton, Chairman of the Guernsey Ports Board, said: “As Managing Director, Ross will take lead responsibility for managing some of our island’s most critical infrastructure, ensuring the safe and expeditious movement of vessels, aircraft, passengers, vehicles and freight.
“Ross will have a clear focus on developing and diversifying commercial opportunities, increasing efficiency and continuing to provide a high standard of public service to islanders.”
