In a first for Guernsey, and the UK, local cannabis company, The House of Green, has delivered its first purpose-built cannabis extraction system built by its subsidiary company Oak & Crane (Guernsey) to a cannabis processing company in California.
Established in 2016 to fill a gap in the market for engineered, peer-reviewed systems specifically designed for the cannabis processing industry, Oak & Crane was acquired by The House of Green in 2019 making it the only vertically integrated cannabis company in the Channel Islands capable of designing and building its own equipment.
Oak & Crane was asked by a company located in Sacramento, California, to build and supply a complete ‘turn-key’ system that would enable them to run their entire extraction process from plant material through to refined oil.
Designed and manufactured in Guernsey and shipped to California in January, the patented equipment has been specifically created for ethanol extraction of cannabinoids from the cannabis plant and can also be used for other distillation processes. Once in the US, the apparatus was met by trained Oak & Crane staff who installed the system and provided follow-up consultations to ensure everything was running smoothly.
Gary Tucker, Director of Oak & Crane, told Channel Eye; “We’re proud to have been the first company in the Channel Islands to provide this service. As a company, we have a wealth of experience and technical knowledge of the cannabis industry and with our design and manufacturing base in Guernsey we are in a unique position to access and service clients in Europe, the UK and America. We will continue to develop our systems as the CBD and cannabis processing industry evolves on this side of the Atlantic, ensuring that we stay at the forefront of the sector.”
The House of Green’s Group CEO, Paul Smith, commented: “We are delighted that, through our subsidiary company Oak & Crane, we have been able to supply and install this system in California. As the cannabis industry expands throughout the UK and Europe, we see significant potential for the growth of this element of our business.”
