The Guernsey Literary Festival, one of the biggest annual arts events in the Channel Islands, runs from 23 April to 5 May.

This year’s headline speakers include media presenters Louise Minchin and Sarah Beeny, celebrity chef Michel Roux, sportsmen Mike Brearley and Pat Nevin and novelists Louis de Bernières and Peter James.

Guernsey Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an event with The Leaders Consultancy who will be speaking about the foundations of excellent leadership and their new book The Leaders Book.

The Business Breakfast speaker is senior climate reporter for Bloomberg News, Akshat Rathi, who will speak about climate capitalism and the green economy.

Other business and current affairs events include:

  • Lawyer and campaigner Jolyon Maugham (pictured) will examine how good law can topple the powerful.
  • BBC journalist Richard Fisher will highlight the importance of long-term thinking.
  • Nigel Toon will explain that AI is a tool that we can control and how it will augment our own amazing human intelligence – he wants to help you learn how AI thinks.
  • Economist Linda Yueh will speak about the lessons from global meltdowns.
  • Andrew Doyle will explain how Guernsey has reinvented its economic system over the last 500 years.
  • Marine conservationist Charles Clover will discuss how to save our oceans.
  • Writer and podcaster Emma Gannon will talk about her portfolio career and her search to craft work (and life) on her own terms.

The Festival also features expert writers covering health and well-being, history, science and poetry, writing workshops and events for families, young people and local writers, as well as full education and community programmes and two major competitions.
