The IoD’s March breakfast event will discuss the importance of human capital to the island’s economy.
Speaker Susie Crowder is the Director of Bright Futures, a charitable institution that aims to change the way we think about lifetime education and its importance in sustaining and growing our economy.
Susie will talk about the charity’s aims and the work it is doing to raise awareness of the changing human capital needs of the workplace, remove funding barriers and offer a professional career mapping and advisory service.
As well as overviewing the work the charity has done to date, and its plans for the future, Susie will report back on some of the highlights of the Channel Islands Human Capital Summit.
She will pose the two key questions: How confident are you that your current skill set will last until the end of your working life and how confident do you feel advising your colleagues on what and how they should be studying to facilitate a long and fulfilling career?
In addition to her role with Bright Futures, Susie is also the Non-Executive Chairman of Nexus Technology Ltd. She has a range of experience in management consultancy and has held several non-executive director roles in the islands, including UBS and C5 Alliance. Susie also has direct experience in and knowledge of the local training sector, having run her own training company CISA for a number of years.
Her passion about the future of the Guernsey economy and its long-term sustainability led Susie to establish Bright Futures jointly with husband and Chairman Richard in 2017.
