The IoD Guernsey Branch has announced the panellists for its annual Mid-Term event, which focuses on artificial intelligence and its implications for boards and businesses in 2023.
The panellists are: Pat Cunningham (pictured), Director & Founder of Indulge, Meriel Lenfestey, a Non-Executive Director and Emma Martins, Data Protection Commissioner at the Data Protection Authority.
With 2023 predicted as the year AI will go mainstream, the panel will identify how local organisations can use AI to solve problems, increase efficiency and enhance performance. Speakers will also discuss the impact AI may have on social-economic issues such as the recruitment market and skills requirements, plus explore AI’s ethical considerations and consequences on society. The panel will also translate this into the Boardroom – and will highlight the key questions that Board directors need to be asking about AI.
The IoD Mid-Term, which takes place on Thursday, 23 March at the St Pierre Park Hotel, also welcomes Dr Alex Connock as the keynote speaker. Alex is the Director of the Oxford Postgraduate Diploma in Artificial Intelligence for Business at Said Business School, has an MBA from INSEAD, and is the author of the 2022 Routledge textbook ‘Media Management and Artificial Intelligence’.

“With AI capabilities predicted to more than double over the next three years, leaders need to develop their skills in this area, with a strong focus on robust governance, clear policies on data, and a strong moral and ethical compass. I’m excited to hear our keynote speakers, and panellists, views on how to achieve this.”
