Further and higher education in Guernsey is undergoing a significant period of transformation in order to create one single organisation, with the aim of bringing each facet of the system ‘under one roof’.
Eventually, this will become a physical roof, with a purpose built facility where the College of Further Education’s (College of FE) Les Ozouets Campus currently stands, but work on bringing The Guernsey Institute to life is already well underway.
The Guernsey Institute will see the three on-island providers of further and higher education brought together: the College of FE, the GTA University Centre and the Institute of Health & Social Care Studies. Previously, while these organisations were all in the higher and further education sector, they each operated as individual entities. The Guernsey Institute will see one board and one senior leadership team running all three, eventually from one purpose built site, while still allowing each to keep their own identities.
In the last few months, The Guernsey Institute transformation programme has moved at pace. It has developed from a concept, to something quickly becoming a reality, placing emphasis on the close alignment with the local industry and community.
Centred around technical, vocational and professional learning, they are hosting four events in the coming months in order to speak to you about where they have been, where they are going, and what they will have to offer. If you are interested and would like to find out more, click here.
