The number of hotel beds availability in Guernsey has fallen at the same time at a rapid increase in the number of beds available in private dwellings with booking service Airbnb and similar.
Guernsey’s Economic Development department issued figures to show that last year there were 149 beds available on Airbnb, compared to just 29 four years ago.
During the same period, hotel bed availability fell from 1,460 in 2015 to 1,317 in 2018.
Guest houses were also assessed. Figures show that beds available fell by 120 since 2009, whilst self-catering fell by 134.
Across the entire visitor accommodation sector, the fall since 2019 is 765.
