Guernsey Gaming for Good has announced its 17th charity gaming marathon, taking place on Saturday, October 19th, 2024.
This year’s event is particularly special as it marks a significant milestone—10 years since Guernsey Gaming for Good (GG4G) began its mission of combining a love for gaming with a passion for supporting local charities. The event, which has grown tremendously over the past decade, is set to be the biggest yet, with Sure Business stepping in as the official sponsor, and continued support from the Digital Greenhouse.
Since its inception in 2014, GG4G has raised over £32,000 for a variety of local causes. Last year alone, the marathon generated an impressive £6,310 for the Royal British Legion and Channel Islands Airsearch.
This year, participants will once again commit to 24 hours of non-stop gaming, beginning at 10 AM on Saturday and concluding at 10 AM on Sunday, with the goal of raising funds for Men’s Shed—a charity dedicated to improving men’s mental health and well-being.
Mike Fawkner-Corbett, Acting Chief Commercial Officer at Sure, said: “We’re incredibly proud to sponsor an event that combines two of our core values: supporting our community, and providing great connectivity. Guernsey Gaming for Good is all about raising money for local charities, while doing something they are passionate about, gaming! We can’t wait to get involved on the day, you may even see us on the livestream.”
James Hookway, Chairperson of Guernsey Gaming for Good, added: “As we celebrate our 10th anniversary, we’re reflecting on how far we’ve come and the impact we’ve made in our community. This year, with the support of Sure Business and the Digital Greenhouse, we’re pulling out all the stops to ensure this marathon is our best yet. We can’t wait to see the community rally together once more to support Men’s Shed.”
