As part of its commitment to building a strong community, Guernsey Electricity is supporting the new Guernsey festival of food, drink and artisanal crafts – ‘Eat Drink & Be Local’ (EDABL) – this summer.
The festival, which aims to showcase a plethora of local entrepreneurs, will be held across four St Peter Port Seafront Sundays in June, July, August and September culminating in a Festival Finale weekend at the end of September.
“As the Island’s sole electricity distributor, we are passionate about supporting homegrown talent as well as connecting with, and supporting, the local community. We’re therefore really excited to be part of ‘Eat Drink & Be Local’ and support its mission of celebrating Guernsey’s innovative and creative producers,” said Clare Packman, Guernsey Electricity communications and digital advisor.
Organiser of EDABL Guernsey Luke Wheadon said: “Guernsey Electricity’s kind sponsorship and support is not only vital to our ability to successfully run the festival but it’s also really encouraging. We’re extremely grateful and very much looking forward to working with them over the summer months.”
The four Seafront Sundays will take place on Crown Pier and along the seafront in St Peter Port on Sunday 2 June, Sunday 28 July, Sunday 18 August, and Sunday 1 September between 10am and 5pm. Islanders can expect to see a quality display of local producers, lectures and talks from food and drink authors as well as demonstrations by local and visiting chefs and atmospheric live music. There will also be activities for children including home-made pizza making.
In addition to sponsorship from Guernsey Electricity and Specsavers, EDABL is supported by a grant from the Committee for Economic Development. The grant is awarded to support events that will help the development and growth of the tourism and hospitality sector.
