The winners of Guernsey Design Awards 2024 were announced at a presentation on Friday 12th April at the Princess Royal Centre for the Performing Arts.
This year saw more entries than ever before, had extra categories and more shortlisted.
Head Judge Larry Malcic, started the proceedings with a fascinating talk that gave a glimpse into some of his work around the globe. Larry has worked on projects from Azerbaijan to Zambia and more than 23 countries in between. His credits also include a who’s who of top museums and exhibitions such as the Churchill Museum and Cabinet War Rooms, exhibition spaces at The British and Natural History Museums and the Air Museum at Duxford.
Closer to home Larry is Chair of the Victor Hugo Centre Guernsey LBG, the ambitious plans to provide a world class exhibition dedicated to one of Guernsey’s most famous residents.
The judges then announced the winners in each of the categories which are:

- La Petite Cache – Architects: CCD Architects Ltd
Office fit out
- Resolution IT- Architects: SOUP Architects Ltd
Following the presentation of all the judged categories was the announcement of ‘The People’s Choice’ award. Voted for by the public and extremely hotly contested every year, the People’s Choice awards always brings with it some serious campaigning on behalf of all the entries. Normally, this means the top spot chops and changes throughout voting, but this year there was one entry that took the lead early on and stayed out in front by a big margin: The bathing pools, from architects DLM architects
The final award of the evening was the Mitch Sneddon Award. Mitch had been such an integral part of the awards since their inception, until his untimely death in December 2021. The award, voted for by professionals on the night went to the Northern Ramparts, architects: SOUP architects ltd
