The Guernsey Community Awards 2019 will soon be accepting nominations for this year’s event, to be held in November.
The Community Awards, which are organised by the Guernsey Community Foundation, celebrate local charities,
groups, individuals and businesses who raise money and embark on community projects for the benefit of others, either in the
Bailiwick or overseas.
From the Youth Award to Outstanding Individual Achievement, Innovation to Charity of the Year, the awards cover the kaleidoscope
of charity and community work that occurs in Guernsey year in, year out.
Jim Roberts of the Guernsey Community Foundation said: “These will be our 9th Community Awards, which have become a bright light to
shine on those individuals and organisations who give so much to our community.
“The quality of submissions is always high, reflecting how important they are to those who are nominated.
“Our experienced panel of judges make the difficult decisions and we encourage as many submissions as possible.
Applications for voluntary work of all shapes and sizes are most welcome as the Awards are proud to reflect the
diversity of the work going on locally. We wish everyone the best of luck.”
Last year’s winner of the Corporate Social Responsibility Award was Investec Private Bank.
The company was recognised for its focus on addressing social and environmental issues by creating long-term partnerships with
local organisations. Investec’s work with Amherst and La Mare de Carteret Primary schools, providing funding and volunteer hours,
was singled out by the judges as a prime example of a committed and effective corporate social responsibility programme which added real value to the community.
