From September the College will include three new Apprenticeship subjects – Adult Care, Early Years and Retail Management.
These three additional subjects have been introduced by the College of Further Education as a direct response to industry needs and training requirements.
The College team has been in discussion with representatives from these sectors to agree the course framework, content and scope of the apprenticeships, which will be launched to employers on Monday 25 March 2019.
The Guernsey Apprenticeship (formerly known as The Guernsey Apprenticeship Scheme) celebrates 70 years this year and has continuously adapted to industry needs since its inception. There are approximately 500 employers currently registered on the programme which attracts around 70 enrolments each year. The new subjects will offer students a broader range of study options within a flexible learning environment.
Louise Misselke, College Principal said:
“The Guernsey Apprenticeship has contributed significantly to Guernsey’s economic success over many years. We are delighted to be extending it to encompass these three new key local sectors and look forward to working with employers to achievetheir and our students’ future success.”
The launch event is open to any employers operating in the Adult Care, Early Years or Retail sectors who want to learn more about the programme. They will have the opportunity to meet subject lecturers, ask questions and meet others in their industry.
