The Guernsey Chamber of Commerce has announced the appointment of Matt Thornton as the new Digital Lead.
Matt (pictured), a co-founder of Cortex Technologies, brings his expertise in software and data to the Chamber’s Digital Committee. With his entrepreneurial spirit, Matt is committed to supporting Guernsey’s economic growth by tapping into the opportunities presented by the digital space.
As a member of the Chamber of Commerce, Matt understands the importance of networking and collaboration in the business community. His experience in tech roles, along with his strong opinions on the tech industry, will bring a fresh perspective to the Digital Committee’s work.
Matt said: “My vision is for Guernsey to become a global leader in technology, leveraging the opportunities presented by emerging technologies to diversify revenue streams and level the playing field. I recognise that the skills gap in computer science is a real challenge and my first priority is to work with education locally to extend and improve the offering we provide our students.”
The Chamber sees the need to improve infrastructure and connectivity to support the growth of the digital sector in Guernsey and will be focussing on pragmatic solutions that enable modern businesses and encourage collaboration and innovation across industries.
A spokesperson from the Chamber of Commerce said they are looking forward to working with Matt and the rest of the Digital Committee to develop innovative solutions and ideas that will maximize the economic growth of Guernsey’s growing digital sector.
The Chamber thank the outgoing industry lead, Justin Bellinger for dedication and contributions during his time in the post.
