A new retail outlet specialising in local produce is set to open at Guernsey Airport this week.
Guernsey Ports has signed an 18-month lease with the Guernsey Hamper Company for the vacant landside retail outlet previously occupied by WHSmith.
It follows a successful call for expressions of interest in the retail premises.
Guernsey Ports commercial development project manager David Buddery said: “When we invited expressions of interest in the retail space on a short-term basis, we were hoping to attract fresh ideas from Guernsey businesses.
“We are confident that the lease signed with the Guernsey Hamper Company will put local produce in the spotlight at the island’s principal passenger gateway. We are looking forward to working with Chantal on her exciting business plan, which will also increase Guernsey Airport’s retail offering.”
Chantal Lee Rautenbach, founder of the Guernsey Hamper Company, said: “This is a great opportunity for me to continue growing the Guernsey Hamper Company, which helps to bring together over 50 local producers and artisans.
“I am really excited to be opening this retail outlet. With our landside location, we are aiming to attract all islanders to our store, as well as providing unique gift ideas for travellers.
“Our aim is to showcase a wide range of local products and an eclectic mix of gift ideas. As well as buying individual items, customers will be able to customise their own hampers to their taste and create the perfect gift using their chosen products.”
