Walkers’ Jersey Banking & Finance team has been strengthened with the arrival of new associates David Connell and Félim Ó Maolmhána and the promotion of Maria Carolan.
Maria joined Walkers in 2021 from another leading Jersey firm and, having successfully completed her SQE, has been promoted to associate within the team. David and Félim, who both join the firm from Ireland, are the first new arrivals of 2023 as Walkers’ strategic growth in the Channel Islands continues.
David trained and qualified with DWF (Ireland) LLP in Dublin and Félim qualified with Dillon Eustace LLP, also in Dublin.
They join the Jersey Banking & Finance team led by partner Nigel Weston and group partners Julia Keppe, Jon Le Rossignol and Tristan Maultby – the team works with the leading onshore counsel and lenders to advise borrowers and lenders in respect of real estate, Islamic finance, fund finance and general secured lending matters.
Fraser Hern (pictured), the Head of Walkers’ Channel Islands business, welcomed the new arrivals and Maria’s promotion.
He said: “Our Channel Islands Banking & Finance team is fast becoming seen by many as a market leader in terms of the quality of clients and the work that it is involved in. David and Félim will add yet further bandwidth and support to that practice as it goes from strength to strength this year.
“The same progression and growth opportunities apply across other Channel Islands practice groups in equal measure. Maria’s promotion and David and Félim’s arrival follows quickly on the back of 15 other promotions and 33 new joiners to the business in 2022. We expect the growth curve to continue in the coming 12 months.”
