Double winners! Grant Thornton scoops the top spot for the ladies and men’s corporate teams in the Cannacord Corporate Cup 2021
Grant Thornton entered an all-male and all-female team into this year’s Cannacord sponsored Corporate Cup race series. The competition, which was established in 2013, sees teams of runners competing in a monthly 5km lunchtime race between April and
September.
The series of six races, primarily encourages some lunchtime exercise for office based workers, while raising money for the Jersey Sports Association for the Disabled.
Grant Thornton’s male team, consisting of James Tinnelly, Senior Manager, Tax, Tom Angus, Senior, Recovery & Reorganisation, Adam Budworth, Managing Director, Robin Ahier, Senior, Business Advisory, and James Pirie, Senior Manager, Recovery & Reorganisation were competing this year to retain the Male Corporate Cup team title, which they also won in 2020.
For the first time this year, Grant Thornton decided to also enter an all-female team to see how they might fare against the competition. The female team was made up of Jo Buchanan, Head of Marketing, Pauline Alderman, Finance Assistant Manager, Lucy Allen, Senior, Recovery & Reorganisation, Jeanne Lee, Assistant Manager, Recovery & Reorganisation, Melinda Sunley, Head of People and Culture, and Lucinda Overbury, Manager, Tax. They were delighted to learn that they too had won the Female Corporate Cup title for this year’s race series.
“Keeping fit and healthy is high on our people’s agenda and we encourage our team wherever possible to stay active,” said Adam Budworth, Managing Director of Grant Thornton. “Keeping with the active theme, we have recently completed an inter-insular step
challenge between our Jersey and Guernsey offices to encourage staff to get out walking and enjoy our islands’ beautiful scenery.
“We were delighted to hear that our colleagues had won the male and female corporate teams in this race series. We hope they will compete next year to see if we can achieve a double for the female team and a hat trick for the men’s.”
