The Guernsey Investment and Funds Association invited Guernsey students in years 10-13 to compete in a stock-picking investment challenge.
The competition ran from 1 October 2023 to 31 March 2024 and aimed to give students an insight into part of investment management.
An impressive 102 teams, made up of over 400 students from 5 educational institutions entered this year’s challenge. Each team started with a notional £1m to invest in a choice of 12 stocks; the aim being to grow it as much as possible over the six months of the competition.
In the years 10 and 11 category, first place was awarded to The Investment Bulls (Blanchelande College – pictured), with a fantastic total return of +109.59%. Second place was awarded to CJR (Elizabeth College) and third place to The 3 Musketeers (Blanchelande College).
In the years 12 and 13 category, first place was clinched by Dragun Investments (The Sixth Form Centre), with a huge +132.34% total return. Second place was awarded to Maradonuts (The Guernsey Institute) and third place to Ctrl+Alt+Defeat (Elizabeth College).
The individual winners in each team won a £100 voucher, £50 voucher and £25 voucher, respectively.
