Insurance broker and risk management firm Gallagher has announced it will sponsor the Channel Islands’ Siam Cup in Jersey over the next three years.
The sponsorship will see Gallagher supporting the Jersey leg of the annual Siam Cup matches between the Channel Islands clubs of Jersey RFC and Guernsey Raiders.
The 2023 Siam Cup will be hosted on 6 May at Jersey Rugby Football Club in St Peter.
The Siam Cup is recognised as one of the premier and most established sporting events in the Channel Islands. The cup is the second oldest Rugby Trophy in the world.
Gallagher is a global insurance broker, and one of the largest in the UK and Ireland, which delivers risk management and insurance solutions for corporate, commercial and personal customers.
Gallagher has a presence in the Channel Islands, having acquired Rossborough Insurance in 2013. Rossborough has been long-established in the Channel Islands and Isle of Man, providing insurance broking services in their communities for over 80 years.
The Siam Cup sponsorship is part of Gallagher’s overall commitment to supporting and investing in the regions where it has a presence. As the current title partner of Premiership Rugby in the UK, sponsoring the Siam Cup deepens Gallagher’s connection to the sport.
Commenting on the sponsorship, James Anderson who heads up Gallagher’s operations in the Channel Islands, said: “We are delighted to support the local area by sponsoring one of its flagship sporting events.
“The Siam Cup is regarded as one of the most prestigious sporting events in the Channel Islands and we are proud to become the official sponsor. Gallagher already has a presence in the Channel Islands through its ownership of Rossborough and we look forward to deepening our connection with the local community, rugby fans and businesses through this exciting partnership.”
Cliff Chipperfield, President at Jersey RFC, added: “We are delighted to welcome Gallagher, as the sponsor of the Siam Cup. Gallagher’s sponsorship is a welcome addition to Rossborough’s ongoing support of the Jersey RFC Women’s team.
“The Siam Cup is an historic event in the Channel Islands calendar and we’re looking forward to re-igniting the inter-island rivalry that it brings in 2023.”
