Independent loan company Future Finance is celebrating its tenth anniversary by reaffirming its commitment to supporting Jersey charities.
Over the decade, the company has paid out £9m to good causes and has pledged to continue supporting good causes by giving £100 to one of its chosen charities for every loan agreed in 2019.
Several local organisations and charitable institutions have benefited over Future Finance’s history, including the Teenage Cancer Trust, Silkworth, Variety, the David Kirch Charitable Trust and Brightly, as well individual causes.
Future Finance Director Denny Lane said: “Supporting charities is in the DNA of our business. As a Jersey business that was just finding its feet as the global financial crisis began, we’re proud to have come through the tough times and grown our business. We feel a strong sense of corporate and social responsibility to improve the future of local good causes and charitable organisations – it’s one of the reasons we chose to call ourselves Future Finance.”
One charity that the company has supported is The Teenage Cancer Trust, by helping to fund the creation and running of a specialist unit in Southampton. Irene Haycock, Vice Chair of the Teenage Cancer Trust Jersey Appeal, said: “Next year, we also celebrate our tenth anniversary, and this would not have been possible without the support from companies like Future Finance. They have continuously supported us and helped us to raise thousands of pounds through our charity golf days. Ongoing loyal support like this is extremely important to our charity and we very much appreciate everything they have done for us.”
In other examples, Future Finance has also been principal sponsor of the Silkworth Extreme Team Challenge, which helped fund the development of the charity’s Recovery Day Service, and Variety, the Children’s Charity of Jersey. Chief Barker Sandra Auckland said: “Variety, the Children’s Charity of Jersey’s mission is to ensure that all children are given the same opportunities in life, whether they be disadvantaged or have special needs. We are very grateful to Future Finance for all their support over the years and would like to congratulate them on their 10th anniversary. Variety hopes that Future Finance will continue supporting them in the future.”
Future Finance Director Craig Dempster said: “We’ve been really hands-on with a number of our charity initiatives, including working with other local companies to re-landscape a garden for a local child who was diagnosed with stage 4 neuroblastoma cancer. Together we built a fantastic garden and play area with space for him to play football, a sport he’s passionate about. We’re delighted that his cancer treatment has been successful, and he and his family are now able to enjoy his life – and his garden! A common theme for our charity choices are helping children. We all have young families, so these initiatives are often very poignant for us.”
To celebrate a decade of success in business as well as supporting local initiatives, Future Finance has pledged to continue, and will pay £100 to one of their chosen charities for every new loan they approve from now and throughout 2019. Borrowers will be able to choose which of Future Finance’s supported charities they’d like the donation to go to.
