Queens Road Medical Practice in Guernsey has welcomed a new GP to its team of doctors, strengthening its health offering to local patients.
Dr Rosa Lavarello joins the practice with 16 years’ experience of practising medicine all over the world from Peru, where she worked in the Amazon Rainforest researching tropical diseases and published her findings in the Journal of Infectious Diseases, Clinical and Diagnostic Laboratory Immunology and Injury Prevention with Johns Hopkins University, to Bahrain where she worked for the Royal Family and the UK where she completed her postgraduate training.
She has broad experience in general surgery and musculoskeletal medicine with an interest in public health and preventative medicine. She is experienced in performing minor surgeries and joint injections; a health service which will enhance Queens Road’s provision to its patients.
Dr Lavarello also has an interest in the prevention of obesity and weight management. She is currently undertaking an audit regarding metabolic monitoring in patients who take anti-psychotic drugs to determine their risk of developing problems such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular disease.
Chief executive officer for Queens Road, Will Pierce, said: “Rosa has extensive experience of working in small communities and the UK NHS providing long-term continuity of care and she’s got a great range of skills which will hugely benefit our patients.
“We’re dedicated to providing the best level of care to all our patients and Rosa’s a great addition to our team.”
