Jersey-based Freeda is asking islanders to consider their new year’s resolutions and how they ‘give back’ in 2024.
Charity Freeda (Free from Domestic Abuse) works to protect and empower women and children who have experienced domestic abuse, so they can take control of their lives.
Lisa Leventhal, Freeda’s CEO, said: “As we’re a week into giving up chocolate, a new gym goal or taking part in dry January, we’re asking islanders to think about the way that they could make a difference this year. It’s been a tough few years for charities who provide essential services to our most vulnerable islanders, and Jersey’s community spirit is ever more important.
“We’re an affluent island with many generous individuals and businesses. Monetary contributions play a crucial role in sustaining essential services and even small donations can make a meaningful impact. A wonderful place to start would be to join us at the Freeda Gala this February, were we are raising funds and celebrating the work of the charity, and the inspiring women and children who are breaking cycles of domestic abuse.
“As well as Freeda’s incredible staff, we’re lucky to work with a team of volunteers to deliver legal and financial advice to service users and provide their professional skills in a multitude of areas. If you have skills in marketing, events, fundraising, then there are many charities who may like to hear from you.
“If you are considering how you as an individual, or your business or workplace might want to support charities, we’re always happy to advise.”
Freedawill be holding its inaugural Fundraising Gala on 17 February 2024. More information can be found here.
