Blue Islands has announced that former easyJet UK director and Chief Commercial Officer of Flybe, Malaysia Airlines and Cobalt Air, Paul Simmons, has joined the Blue Islands board as a non-executive director.
Rob Veron, CEO Blue Islands said: “A consummate aviation executive with a strong understanding of regional aviation markets – we’re delighted to welcome Paul to the Blue Islands board. Paul brings a wealth of experience, further strengthening the board as we continue to grow an independent and sustainable regional airline committed to serving the Channel Islands.”
Paul spent seven years with easyJet, initially as Group Head of Marketing and Distribution; and for the last five years as UK director. In this role, he was responsible for the commercial performance of easyJet’s UK fleet and consistently grew the profitability of the business. Prior to airlines, Paul held senior international marketing executive positions with blue chip organisations in the FMCG and hospitality sectors including P&G, Kelloggs and InterContinental Hotels, while he is currently CEO of Sequestim Ltd, a new airport security business co-owned by Cardiff University.
Commenting on his appointment, Paul Simmons said: “Blue Islands has continually developed its route network, aircraft fleet and passenger numbers in a commercially viable way, it’s exciting to be part of this ambitious and passionate team. I look forward to drawing on my experience to benefit Blue Islands and its customers.”
Mr Veron added, “With three new routes this summer and a new ground handling operation about to commence, Paul joins Blue Islands at an exciting stage as we seek further development opportunities.”
Paul, 54, is married with two children currently at university and lives in Devon.
