The 2020 rankings for eprivateclient’s ’50 Most Influential’ private client advisers have been released, with local lawyers taking five of the spots available.
David Benest of BCR Law, James Campbell of Ogier, Russell Clark of Carey Olsen, Ed Devenport of Mourant and Tim Pearce of Bedell Cristin were all named on the list.
Described as the definitive rankings of the key players in the UK and UK Crown Dependencies’ private client practitioner sector, the ’50 Most Influential’ includes advisers from the wealth management, accountancy, legal, trust and family law sectors.
Russell Clark (pictured), who heads up the trusts and private wealth practice of Carey Olsen in Guernsey, was the only Guernsey-based lawyer to make the list. He specialises in both contentious and non-contentious trust matters and advising private clients on succession and estate planning.
Russell said: “I am thrilled to have been recognised by eprivateclient alongside so many outstanding professionals in the private client industry. My individual recognition is testament to the hard work and dedication of my colleagues not only in the Guernsey team but also the wider trusts and private wealth group at Carey Olsen.”
David Benest is managing partner of BCR Law in Jersey. He said: “I am delighted to be included in this list of influential practitioners. The team at BCR Law strive to ensure that the client experience is placed at the very heart of our ethos, and it is our ambition to create an agile practice designed to face the challenges of an ever more complex and more connected world.”
For James Campbell, the global head of Ogier’s private wealth team, it was the third time he has been included on the list. He said: “I am very pleased to have been included once again in this list of influential private client practitioners after another very busy year at Ogier. Our team continues to go from strength to strength, with recognition as market leaders across the major directories. Demographic changes and uncertainty in some key regions mean that this is a busy time for internationally-focused private client practitioners, and we expect this to continue through 2020 and beyond.”
