The growth in direct holiday destinations for residents of Guernsey continues, with the announcement that Channel Islands based tour operator, FlyDirect, is to commence direct services to Gran Canaria this winter.
The inaugural winter sun route will be to the third largest of the Canary Islands, often described as a miniature continent, due to the wide variety of landscapes it offers the visitor.
As is the case for FlyDirect’s summer programme, Islanders will have the opportunity to book flights only or an inclusive holiday. There will be a wide variety of accommodation options available, in a choice of resorts, appealing to families as well as adults travelling without children.
Commenting on the launch, Robert Mackenzie, C.I. Travel Group’s Managing Director said: “For several years, we have been operating a programme to the Canary Islands from Jersey & the Isle of Man. It now gives us enormous pleasure to announce that, for the first time ever, we will be offering direct flights from Guernsey.”
“It is also exciting to be offering Gran Canaria as a new destination exclusively from Guernsey – an island that has so much to offer in terms of scenery and accommodation choices.” he continued.
Guernsey Ports Managing Director, Ross Coppolo said: “We have been delighted to be involved with this exciting new opportunity for the Bailiwick of Guernsey resulting in the introduction of exclusive, direct flights to Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands for the first time using the very latest aircraft technology, the Airbus A220 300 series.”
