As Brittany Ferries’ 15-year agreement with the States of Guernsey takes effect, the first ship rebranded from Condor beginning service in local waters.

Following a month long refit in Poland and certification, Islander is now carrying essential freight and passengers six days per week from Portsmouth, resplendent in her new Brittany Ferries’ colours.

The livery has been applied throughout the vessel, reflecting the strong French branding and refreshing identity whilst the ship’s crew will soon be assigned new uniforms. Other changes in the coming weeks include a new range of products in the onboard shop.

Three ships from Condor’s existing fleet remain in service, all dropping the Condor prefix. Alongside Islander, Voyager is to operate high speed services between St Malo, Guernsey, Poole and once a week to Jersey. Clipper will primarily be deployed elsewhere in the French company’s network but serve as a back-up vessel. She will return to the Island as required, thereby maintaining fleet resilience.

Christophe Mathieu, Brittany Ferries’ CEO, commented: “We respect the 60-year legacy of Condor and appreciate the trust placed over the years. And as we take on this new responsibility, we can reassure customers that our commitment is to enhance their travel experience, while continuing to strengthen the rich and diverse connections tying together Guernsey, France and the UK.

“This change in colours is therefore just the first step in improving the passenger experience which will focus on reliability, comfort, hospitality and value.”
