Dozens of Jersey children will be helping Chefs at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa create some ‘festive magic’ this week when they head back to the kitchen for the first time since the Covid pandemic for a much-loved Christmas tradition.
The six and seven-year-olds from Mont Nicolle School will be joining Executive Head Chef Andrew Soddy and his team at the AA Four Red Star hotel to help create the hotel’s famously festive edible winter wonderland.
This year’s gingerbread village will be made up of over 170 sweet-smelling houses with a replica of the hotel in the middle and a giant gingerbread archway. The youngsters have a big job on their hands so will be given plenty of icing and sweeties to get decorating.
Commenting on the project, Andrew said: “We’ve missed having the children in the hotel over the last few years so we’re really looking forward to welcoming them back this week. Creating our winter wonderland takes hours and hours of work but it simply wouldn’t be Christmas here at L’Horizon without it. We’re very grateful to have so many little elves coming to help us!”
The children won’t be going back to school empty handed either as they will also make their own gingerbread treats to take away.
The edible winter wonderland is an annual festive fixture at L’Horizon Beach Hotel & Spa and will be on display from 14th December.
