As part of the wider planning around COVID 19, Ferryspeed, working in closely with the States of Guernsey have requested Longue Hougue Lane which runs between Bulwer Avenue and Grandes Maison Road, St Sampson’s be closed to vehicular traffic.
The reasons for this is to ensure secure access for Ferryspeed’s trucks and trailers day and night, which carry much of the island’s essential goods from the harbour to the warehouses, then out to many of the island shops and stores.
Ferryspeed say they want to make sure that their premises are secure and that the people that operate in and around the premises within this lane are controlled, and the only way to do this was to close the road.
They will also be putting into place additional checks for anyone needing to visit the site, and would ask that anyone needing to visit to collect any goods, telephone in advance
Ferryspeed has apologised for any inconvenience that this temporary road closure may cause, but hopes the public understands and appreciates the genuine reasons for doing this, as they form an integral part of the island’s supply chain.
