Jersey-based digital agency, Blue Llama, have launched Lucky.je, an app designed to help Islanders check if they have won the Channel Islands Christmas Lottery.
Lucky.je is a simple, accessible and completely free web application, meaning there’s no need to download an app – you simply visit the lucky.je website on your mobile device to get started. The app uses your phone’s camera to read your ticket and compare your numbers against those being drawn on Tuesday 20th December to instantly reveal if you are a winner.
Every year, the Christmas lottery excites and inspires Islanders, as they come together to raise money for local charities, and hope to win a potentially life-changing sum of money, just in time for Christmas. But there’s always one small bugbear – the time-consuming process of ticket checking.
Blue Llama estimates that it takes around 30 seconds to check each ticket properly, as Islanders compare two numbers per card against 67 winning numbers. With Blue Llama’s Lucky.je website, that average of 30 seconds is reduced right down to just three. That could result in a potential saving of 8,000 man hours across the islands!
The Channel Island Lottery team is excited about the new release. Jon Taylor, Senior Lottery Officer said: “we welcome an independent organisation developing an app to help CI Lottery players identify winning numbers.”
Blue Llama work with non-profit organisations and government bodies to help them better service their communities, and last year completed an ambitious digitisation project in collaboration with Jersey parishes to modernise and streamline their websites. They are now working with the Parish of St Helier to launch their new website and are also creating an application to better manage dog licences.
Phil de Gruchy, Managing Director at Blue Llama said: “We’re passionate about making digital simple, it’s in our nature to innovate and problem-solve wherever we can. And, as proud Islanders, we’re committed to supporting our communities and helping them thrive in our increasingly digital world. I like to think of Lucky.je as Blue Llama’s little Christmas present to the Islands.”
The Christmas lottery draw takes place at 6.20pm on 20th December, at which time Lucky.je will go live for all Islanders to use. Phil continued, “We wish all Islanders the best and hope that they get Lucky.je this Christmas.”
