EY will be lighting up their offices purple to mark International Day of Persons with Disabilities (IDPD) on Thursday, 3rd December.
EY’s office in St Peter Port will be lit up with purple lighting from 5pm-9pm this Thursday evening as part of the #PurpleLightUp 24-hour global campaign, in association with PurpleSpace.
PurpleSpace is the world’s only networking and professional development hub for disabled employees, network and resource group leaders and allies from all sectors and trades. The global campaign and broadcast will bring together CEOs, allies, senior champions, network or employee resource group leaders and disabled employees to connect, share their stories and show their support for persons with disabilities.
Irma Pretorius, EY’s Head of Talent in the Channel Islands, explains why it is important to support these initiatives and continue to raise awareness beyond IDPD: “We are delighted to be able to show our support for International Day of Persons with Disabilities in such a visual way in order to raise awareness, but more importantly to drive conversations around disability inclusion on a local level.
“It’s important to raise awareness of the issues people with disabilities face on a day-to-day basis and to continue to break down the barriers that exist around disabilities. As a firm we know how crucial it is to create an inclusive culture and environment where everyone feels they truly belong to ultimately reach their full potential.
“We are pleased to be able to show our support and be involved with this global initiative, as well as continuing to support the Guernsey Disability Alliance with the great work they doing in advancing disability confidence and creating inclusive working environments within our local business communities”.
