EY has announced the promotion of a manager and also the promotion of five assurance assistant managers
María Acuna-Moreno has been promoted to Manager in their Channel Islands Strategy and Transactions (SaT) team, while Dean Cheng Sang Fong, Melvin
De Castro, Tom Hurdley, Mahuna Mbaga, Liera Mae Ramos-Octavio and Ahsan Raza Tahir have all been promoted to Assistant Manager within EY’s Guernsey Assurance team.
Having achieved both a BSc and MSc from the University of Manchester, María joined EY’s Guernsey office in February 2019 as a trainee in their Assurance team. She obtained an ACCA qualification whilst gaining broad experience and knowledge from auditing businesses across the financial service industry. María transferred to EY’s SaT team in 2020 and has since worked for clients across wealth and asset management and administration as well as private banking and construction and retail, amongst others.
Stuart Gardner, EY’s CI Strategy and Transactions Leader said: “María is an integral member of the SaT team and has demonstrated her dedication and skills on multiple projects, right across our team’s core competencies of diligence and restructuring.
“María’s financial proficiency, acumen and understanding of the regulatory complexities in both islands has been invaluable to our clients. María’s career path at EY demonstrates the opportunities that we offer to work in multiple service lines and across diverse industries”.
María’s focus as Manager will be to further develop her expertise, particularly in Channel Islands solvent and insolvent restructuring assignments, and to support the growth of the team within the Channel Islands to meet the evolving needs of the market.
In addition to her professional competence, María has been actively involved in fostering workplace culture, playing a lead role of both EY’s Sports & Social and Health & Wellbeing committees in Guernsey.
“Congratulations to all those who have been promoted and progressed to the next stage in their careers. Ensuring all our people have the support and opportunities available to grow and progress in their careers is important to us. These promotions are a testament to the individuals’ hard work and commitment to providing exceptional client service,” said Dan Saunders, EY’s CI Managing Partner.
