Matthew Freegard has joined Walkers’ Private Capital and Trusts team in Jersey to focus on developing the firm’s pensions and employee incentives practice.
Matthew, who joins the firm as Senior Counsel, has almost ten years’ legal experience in private practice both onshore and offshore, and in a senior in-house role. His most recent position was as an Associate Director in the Technical Trust team at RBC Wealth Management.
Matthew (pictured) is the second recent arrival in the team, following the recruitment of associate Devan Gounden in February.
His employee incentives work focuses on advising corporate clients on the creation and administration of employee benefit structures and pension schemes. He is also experienced in advising settlor companies, member beneficiaries as well as private wealth trustees and beneficiaries generally.
Jonathan Heaney, the Managing Partner of Walkers’ Jersey office, said: “We are delighted to welcome Matthew to our growing team – he brings with him a wealth of experience, and is one of the few genuine specialists in the area of employee incentives.
“Having worked in Jersey for over six years, Matthew is very familiar with the relevant law with regards to employee incentives and pension schemes and we look forward to developing this area of our practice.”
