‘Every Child Our Future’ will be appointing a CEO to lead the Jersey based charity into its next phase of development.
With Covid and subsequent school closures and disruption having had a negative impact on many children, the charity is aware that, more than ever, extra support is needed to help them catch up. The charity has also recently expanded its educational programmes to include numeracy and early years support, meaning that the next few years should see a time of significant growth.
Cris Lakeman (shown in the main image) will be taking on this newly-created CEO role. Cris is the former Head Teacher of both Grands Vaux and d’Auvergne schools and is a Senior Adviser to CYPES with responsibility for Pupil Premium which aims to ensure that every child gets the very best from their education regardless of their background.
Cris shares the charity’s belief in the power of education to make a difference to the lives of children and young people, especially those from disadvantaged backgrounds.
Nick Kershaw, Chairman of Every Child Our Future, said: “We are delighted that Cris has accepted the role of CEO for Every Child Our Future. Cris’s vast educational experience is going to be hugely beneficial in overseeing the next stage of growth for the charity. At a time when there is such a focus on education, Cris has the expertise and leadership to help us bring the community together to give the children of Jersey all the support they need. We are very much looking forward to welcoming her to the team in July”.
Cris explained: “Every Child Our Future have secured partnerships with the Education Department, with corporate supporters and with community volunteers. I am very much looking forward to working with these partners to further grow the charity for the benefit of children in the local community.”
