Volunteering in Sport Fair
Jersey Sport is inviting islanders to discover how they can get involved in sport and make a positive difference in their community at the first Volunteering in Sport Fair.
Taking place on Tuesday 8 September from 12pm to 2pm at the Pomme d’Or Hotel, the free event will bring together members of the public and local sporting
organisations to showcase the wide range of volunteering opportunities available across the island.
Whether people are passionate about a particular sport, looking to try something new, want to meet people in their community or simply have some time they
would like to give back, the fair will provide an opportunity to find out how they can get involved.
Visitors will be able to meet representatives from Jersey Sport and local sport organisations, chat about the different ways they can volunteer, and learn more about the people and organisations that help sport thrive in Jersey. Light refreshments will also be available, and everyone is welcome to attend.
Dom Blampied, Sport Development Officer (Pathways) at Jersey Sport, said: “Jersey Sport is delighted to be hosting our first Volunteering in Sport Fair. Volunteers are at the heart of sport, from helping to run clubs and events to supporting athletes and creating opportunities for islanders to get active.
“Sport thrives because of the time, energy and passion that volunteers give, and Jersey is no different. We want to connect people who are interested in volunteering with local sporting organisations and show them just how many different ways they can get involved, and what the benefits are.
“Whether you have years of experience in sport or have never volunteered before, there is an opportunity for everyone. We hope people will come along, have a
chat, meet some friendly faces and discover how they can play their part in one of Jersey’s strongest communities.”
The fair is open to everyone, with no previous volunteering experience required. Jersey Sport is encouraging anyone who is curious about volunteering in sport
and physical activity to come along, bring a friend and find out how they can get involved.
