Harbour Gallery Robert Allen

Two-day workshop Harbour Gallery Robert Allen

Join us for a wonderful opportunity! Local artist teacher, Robert Allen will be leading a two-day workshop at the Harbour Gallery.

The cost includes all materials and an A4 hardback sketchbook will be provided plus a buffet lunch. Each student will take home a ‘final’ painting on A2 canvas board.

In his workshop, Robert will use the Old Harbour opposite the Harbour Gallery as a source of visual inspiration.

The workshop will start with walking around the harbour and drawing different compositions from life, weather permitting. If it is poor weather, then you will use the views from the windows to capture compositions.

These drawings will then be worked on with different materials to test colour, mark making and materials combinations. The participant will then select one composition to turn into a resolved artwork.

The workshop will focus on a more abstract aesthetic but will also emphasise the importance of the basic elements of art such as line, tone, shape, balance and value.

You are also invited to join us for a glass of wine at the opening of Robert’s exhibition opening on Saturday 1st February, 3:30 for 4:00pm.
