The Witches: A world premiere dance event
Ballet d’Jerri is proud to present The Witches, a breath-taking world premiere dance triptych, performed at the ancient and powerful setting of La Hougue Bie from 5th – 15th June 2025.
Inspired by Jersey’s historical witch trials, The Witches brings together three visionary choreographers; Katya Bourvis, Vidya Patel, and Cecilia Lisa Eliceche, to explore themes of fear, resilience, and the dangerous echoes of history. Artistic consultation is provided by Jersey’s own Dr. Adam Perchard, ensuring a deep and respectful grounding in the island’s rich past.
The opening night VIP premiere takes place on 5th June at 7:30pm at La Hougue Bie. This exclusive night features a champagne reception and the opportunity to meet the performers and creative team behind The Witches. Tickets are £100 per person, offering a truly unique cultural experience in one of Jersey’s most atmospheric settings.
All performances following the opening night (6th–14th June) will be priced using a refreshingly inclusive ‘Pay What You Can’ model. This allows everyone in Jersey to access this powerful production at a price point that suits their means. Core to Ballet d’Jerri’s mission is a commitment to removing financial barriers while continuing to deliver world-class contemporary performances in Jersey.
“For The Witches, we’re introducing a ‘pay what you can’ ticket structure—because we know people in Jersey will help each other if they can. If you’re in a position to pay it forward for someone else to see the show, your generosity makes it possible for us to offer someone else a subsidised ticket. And if you need a little help yourself, take it without guilt. We are your national ballet—we belong to you. Of course, like any arts organisation, we need support to keep creating bold, ambitious work. But we believe access should never be the barrier. That’s why we also take our work into schools across the island—because every child deserves the chance to experience the power of live dance, not just the ones whose parents can afford it,” said Carolyn Rose Ramsay, Founding Artistic Director.
The Witches is the first-ever contemporary dance production of its kind to be staged at La Hougue Bie; a world premiere of international significance that fuses history, myth, and movement in an electrifying, immersive experience. Don’t miss this extraordinary event that puts Jersey firmly on the cultural map.
