TEKEX – Innovation Breakfast
The Isle of Man is preparing for a General Election in September 2026. With global technology changing rapidly and with a changing domestic economy, how can the Island best embrace the future?
The event will explore the opportunities and the challenges that face the Isle of Man, and consider how MHKs and the government can embrace the Manx future. We will discuss the Isle of Man in a competitive international context, and discuss what industries and specialisms the IOM should adopt & pursue in the years ahead – opportunities like greentech, crypto, data asset foundations, and AI IP regulations. We will also discuss how best to adopt current and future AI technologies. This is an opportunity for members of the business and professional services community to explore the years ahead, and to engage with aspiring MHKs.
Objectives:
- Get aspiring Members of the House of Keys enthused
- Showcase to the aspiring MHKs that there are votes to be had via a pro tech agenda.
- Explore what industries and specialisms the IOM should adopt/ pursue in the years ahead (for instance, greentech, crypto, the data asset foundations, AI IP experimentation)
- Point to the challenges that the IOM faces – declining tax base, coming automation of clerical jobs, reliance of the Island on employment income is threatened by automation
- Surface topics of interest to business community + MHKs
