Step Into Christmas: Taking over the Royal Square
Jersey’s Royal Square has always been central to the community: a place to join together with other Islanders and celebrate.
This year, a group of local Churches is taking over the marquees in the square and bringing a real Christmas celebration back to the heart of town.
‘Step Into Christmas’ is a free public event which welcomes Islanders of all ages to take part in fun Christmas activities.
On Thursday 18th December, come together with friends and family for an evening Carol Service with a live band. Hundreds of voices will fill the square during late-night shopping hours, providing a moment of warmth and light during the usual rush.
Then, on Saturday 20th December, visit the Step Into Christmas Village for free activities and live music. Step back in time into the Nativity Grotto, where children can take part in a live theatre experience and meet the characters from the Nativity story.
There will also be a kids’ colouring competition, magic trick shows, hot drinks & food, and more.
Event organiser, Pastor Gregg Donaldson, said: “It’s been a tough year for finances and social isolation, and we want to play a small role in combating this. We’re activating one of Town’s major public event spaces to make Christmas celebrations accessible for the whole Island community.”
This event is subject to the kind approval of the Bailiff.
