Safeguarding adults in sport and physical activity
Safeguarding is everyone’s responsibility. Learn how you can support and promote the welfare of adults in sport and physical activity in this is face-to-face delivered workshop. The course was developed in partnership with the Ann Craft Trust, and is delivered by Jersey Sport tutors. The Jersey-specific referral system will be included.
Audience
This course is suitable for everyone who delivers coaching in clubs, community sport and physical activity, such as coaches, activators, sports administrators, front of house staff and volunteers.
Please note: you must be a current resident of Jersey to access our training and workshops.
Aim
Nobody should have to worry about abuse or harassment. This workshop will give you the knowledge and confidence to safeguard adults within your sports organisation, including those identified as ‘at risk’. You’ll learn how to create a safe environment in which all adults can enjoy sport and physical activity.
Learning Outcomes
Through learning and scenario-based application, discover how to identify when an adult needs safeguarding and how to take appropriate and effective action to:
- Support the welfare of all adults within your sports organisation and at your physical activity sessions
- Recognise abuse and potential signs of abuse
- Gain insight into how to manage and deal with safeguarding concerns by following the four ‘Rs’ of safeguarding
- Recognise poor practice
- Think about creating positive and safe environments
- Learn the six principles of safeguarding adults
