Robert Allen pop up exhibition
ArtHouse Jersey has announced the latest in their series of Pop Up exhibitions at Greve de Lecq Barracks with local artist Robert Allen on Saturday 15 and Sunday 16 April 2023, open between 10am and 5pm both days.
Robert Allen’s practice is based around drawing and painting the coastline of Jersey’s great outdoors. His aim is to create artwork that describes the sensation of a place and he has recently been exploring more abstract processes. For this exhibition he will be presenting a series of artworks focusing on the coastline and harbours of Jersey. These pieces aim to capture the different colours, forms, textures and changing tidal areas of Jersey’s shoreline.
‘ArtHouse Jersey Pop Up’ is a series of six pop up art exhibitions featuring local artists scattered across the year that take place at their HQ..
The project invites people to ‘pop up’ to the arts charity’s HQ at Greve de Lecq Barracks to enjoy the work of artists in their unique exhibition space. It also offers visitors the chance to get a better insight into artists’ work and practices and perhaps purchase something special.
Artist Robert Allen said: “I am really excited to exhibit with ArtHouse Jersey in April. The setting of the Barracks above the beach set amongst the cliffs on the North Coast are a perfect fit for my artwork. I have spent a lot of time recently recording areas around the North Coast with its beautiful colours and clashing textures. This area has been my main inspiration for my work and so I hope the site and artwork compliment each other well.”
