Rendez-vous aux jardins: Discovering the senses in the garden
Discover the five senses at Candie Gardens in Saint Pierre Port with Guernsey Arts! Take part in a multi-sensory guided tour of the gardens and awaken your senses, discovering the secrets hidden in the gardens.
The Candie Gardens, established in 1894, are divided into several parts. The lower gardens were redesigned in 1998 in Victorian fashion.
In the heart of the upper gardens, you will find a splendid statue of Victor Hugo. This one, unveiled on July 7, 1914, was a gift offered by the French government to the inhabitants of the island, “the little people of the sea” – a thank you for the warm welcome of the islanders for the writer during his stay in exile.
Nearby, you will find a small space, created by Victor Hugo’s company in Guernsey, resplendent with plants paying homage to the fictional characters created by Hugo.
Our guided tour (about 1 hour lasts) is free but you must reserve your place on Eventbrite.
Please note this will be a gentle walk around Candie Gardens so please dress appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.
