Open Studio
Ballet d’Jèrri (BDJ) is delighted to open its doors once again for a new season of Open Studios, a series of informal, behind-the-scenes events that invite audiences of all ages to experience dance in the making.
Held in The BDJ Studio at Jersey Opera House, these relaxed evenings offer a rare chance to see new works take shape, from first sketches to nearly finished pieces. Each session weaves together moments of dance and open conversation, giving audiences the opportunity to meet the artists, ask questions and discover what really happens in the studio when creativity unfolds.
“There’s something really special about sharing the creative process while it’s still in motion,” says Carolyn Rose Ramsay, Artistic Director and Founder of Ballet d’Jèrri. “Open Studios give people a chance to see the real, human side of what we do; the experimenting, the conversations, the discoveries along the way. It’s about being open, curious, and creating a space where everyone feels part of it.”
The atmosphere is intentionally informal and inclusive, designed to make contemporary dance accessible, engaging and genuinely human. Guests are encouraged to come as they are, bring their curiosity and enjoy an evening of discovery and conversation.
This season’s Open Studios will take place at 7 pm on Friday 12 December, Friday 9 January, Wednesday 4 March, and Friday 15 May, all in the welcoming setting of the BDJ Studio at Jersey Opera House. Tickets are available by donation rather than at a fixed price, as part of BDJ’s ongoing commitment to making the arts accessible to all. Every contribution, however small or large, directly supports the company’s creative projects and community work.
Come and be part of something new. Witness ideas take shape, meet the artists behind them, and see where dance truly begins.
