Need to know series: Lasting powers of attorney and incapacity
Simon Lofthouse, Head of Private Client at Corbett Le Quesne, will give a short presentation on the topic of LPAs and incapacity.
He will outline everything you need to know about when and how to safeguard your assets and appoint attorneys to look after your interests if you cannot.
Simon will be looking at:
- Incapacity
- Lasting Powers of Attorney (LPAs)
- Delegation
- Estate Planning
LPAs provide instructions to the people looking after you so you know your wishes will be followed. Dealing with bank accounts and other assets when people do not have LPAs in place is extremely difficult. Most people don’t get the advice they need until it’s too late. You can only make an LPA when you have capacity. As soon as you have any concerns about capacity you should get legal as well as medical advice.
Simon will answer your questions and give you the need to know advice that will set your mind at ease.
