Meet the Pilots at the Guernsey Air Display
The Guernsey Air Display’s popular Meet the Pilots event returns on Tuesday 8 September from 3pm-7pm, giving islanders of all ages the chance to get up close to this year’s aircraft before they take to the skies.
The event provides islanders with the unique opportunity to meet the men and women who fly the aircraft, learn about their career journeys and view some of the aircraft ahead of this year’s display.
A major focus of the Guernsey Air Display Foundation is to encourage young islanders to consider exciting careers in aviation, aerospace and engineering.
Jon Le Ray, Event Organiser, said: “Meet the Pilots has become one of the highlights of the Air Display. By extending the event to 7pm, we hope even more families will be able to join us after school and work. Inspiring the next generation is a key part of what we do, and there’s no better way to spark an interest in aviation than by giving young people the chance to speak directly with the pilots, engineers and display teams. We are also grateful for the continued support of Guernsey Airport for allowing this event to take place.”
Visitors will be able to see an exciting line-up of aircraft including the UK’s only civilian aerobatic display team, Team Raven, who impress crowds with their precision flying and close-formation displays. Also attending will be a classic Jet Provost, a vintage training jet used by the RAF from the 1950s, together with James Brown’s Hawker Hurricane, the Battle of Britain’s only surviving fighter aircraft still flying today.
As well as opportunities to chat, ask questions and take photos with the pilots and crew, visitors can meet the Airborne Pyrotechnics Team. The father and son duo will explain how they’ve developed gliders fitted with specialist light, smoke and firework systems for their performances in Guernsey’s skies.
This year’s Meet the Pilots event is proudly sponsored by Titan Wealth and Aiglle Flight Support.
Katrina Bray, Head of Marketing at Titan Wealth said: “We’re delighted to support Meet the Pilots, an event that has become a firm favourite in Guernsey’s calendar. The team behind the Guernsey Air Display works hard to raise funds, secure impressive aircraft and pull off a successful event year after year, and Titan Wealth is happy to play our part in ensuring that Meet the Pilots and the display can continue.”
Ian Arnold, Head of Operations at Aiglle said: “We’re very happy to support this wonderful event to inspire our younger generations into our exciting aviation industry. We’re looking forward to seeing another fantastic turnout at the airport this year.”
