Parkinson’s Guernsey: Awareness day
This event aims to raise awareness about Parkinson’s Disease, provide information and support to people with Parkinson’s and their loved ones, reassure those affected by Parkinson’s that they can lead fulfilling lives with the right support and resources available locally and highlight the valuable work of our charity Parkinson’s Guernsey whose motto is: “Parkinson’s Guernsey, Moving forward together”.
We are delighted that our Patron; Louise Cripwell will be present at this important event for the Parkinson’s community.
Key Themes Include:
- Importance of Movement: Emphasising the role of physical activity in managing Parkinson’s symptoms and improving overall well-being.
- Support Services: Showcasing the extensive support network available on the island and engaging with healthcare professionals such as our Clinical Nurse Specialist; Debbie Robilliard, the Guernsey Therapy Group, the Speech and Language Therapist, the Clinical Lead Dietician, the Occupational Therapist service, the Adult and Community Services, Guernsey Voluntary Service (who run Meals on Wheels plus the Jubilee and Russels Social Clubs), Bailiwick Social Prescribing, Health Connections, Guille-Alles library, the Health Improvement Commission with Wheels for You , U3A, Paws for Support, Carers Coming Together, Connies Carers, Carers Guernsey, Babbé LLP and Guardian Medical supply.
- Interactive Demonstrations and Activities: Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in interactive demonstrations and try out various activities aimed at promoting physical activity and social engagement such as: Walking with poles, Pickleball, Smoveys, Walking Football, Padel Tennis and an electric bike.
- This is an event open to the whole Community with an interest in Parkinson’s Disease.
